Accuracy is important!

For this reason, reviewing English and other foreign language texts is a fundamental aspect of the services provided by SPRACHENWERFT.

A proofread can be commissioned independently of a translation, or can include both a source text and the resulting translation – after all, the two are often directly linked. We are happy to advise you on the ideal service for your product once we have an overview of the documents involved.

Here you have a choice between the following options:

With a proofreading, the focus is on spelling, punctuation and grammar, including typography and word splits.

An editing covers the same aspects as the proofreading, as well as checking the text for logical accuracy and, where necessary, suggesting stylistic alternatives. In addition, elements such as data and facts are reviewed in terms of source and plausibility, and URLs and QR codes are tested.

During a comparative proofread, existing translations are compared to the source text to check that the content matches, that any necessary cultural adaptation has taken place, and that the translation is complete. Depending on the topic or subject area, the cost for this option can vary greatly (imagine advertising brochures versus HTML5 documentation). As such, we would be happy to produce a non-binding and individual proposal for you should you choose this service.

In addition to the above services, we can examine your text in even greater depth should you require. Starting with the accuracy of the page numbers, sources, references and links, we can also take into account in-house writing styles (corporate language) and your specific subject terminology. Thanks to our expertise in this area, we are also able to help you in creating glossaries and style guides.

We can provide all corrections either in the form of handwritten notes in accordance with the standard correction code, or in electronic form with tracked changes (for example, MS Word or other standard file formats). Please don’t hesitate to ask us about this.
